Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

The aim of the course is for students to practise and improve their oral expression skills in Spanish, becoming more fluent, confident and secure in their use of the language.
Students consolidate grammatical structures and connectors, expand their vocabulary and explore fundamental aspects of the multicultural identity of the Spanish-speaking world.
Special attention is paid to idiomatic expressions as well as cultural and current topics.
Through debates, role-plays, presentations and other dynamic activities, students perfect their communication skills and reflect on a variety of topics.
The course is aimed at students of Spanish 3 and Spanish 4, but is also open to participants of other levels who wish to improve their oral expression skills.

Assessment and permitted materials

The assessment consists of several varied and dynamic activities that offer students numerous opportunities to speak actively and engage in communication.

- Group presentation in a face-to-face session (25 points): Students work together on a topic and present it in class.
- Individual presentation (25 points): Students create an individual presentation during the semester.
Short topic-related presentations during the sessions (30 points in total): Three short presentations (10 points each) related to the weekly topics. These can be based on newspaper articles, literary excerpts, podcasts or video analyses and guarantee regular, active language practice in class.
- Active participation in class (20 points): Participation is key. Oral contributions to discussions, debates and group activities will be assessed, as well as the willingness to participate actively and dynamically in class on an ongoing basis.

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

- Oral expression skills are assessed on the basis of the topics covered in each session. Particular emphasis is placed on the active, correct and context-appropriate use of new vocabulary and the content covered in class.
- The assessment is based on the CEFR descriptors for levels B2/B2+.
- Points are awarded for each task completed. A total of at least 60 points must be achieved in order to pass the course.

Grades
100-90.5: Very good
90-80.5: Good
80-70.5: Satisfactory
70-60.5: Sufficient
In order to achieve the learning objectives of the course, active participation by students is required: individual contributions and group work during the unit. For this reason, attendance at the course is compulsory. No more than two unexcused absences are permitted.

Examination topics
