This is an interactive course with the aim of introducing research methods used in neuroscientific / neurolinguistics and brain imaging research on language learning, second language acquisition and multilingualism. The course is suited for students interested into research of cognitive neuroscience or neuropsychology of second or multiple language acquisition. The course will concentrate on providing practical and theoretical introductory insights into the field and its newest literature, in order to render the course participants equipped with basic knowledge to better understand this type of research literature.Aims:
This course aims at introducing the participants to the field of cognitive neuroscience with special focus on second language acquisition, providing practical background information and insights into the nature of research and the tools used in neuroimaging research. The course should be highly interactive and practical with students elaborating an own secondary research project (presentation of a preferred topic chosen from this field). Students should discuss their findings and thoughts in class. Methods:
Teacher presentations, project/group/student presentations, all-class discussions of topic presentations, group discussions, short end of term test.
