Information
Aims, contents and method of the course
Expansion of information literacy, introduction to research design (using an individual case study), reflected use of research tools and strategies, in-depth practical skills in transcription, bio-bibliographic research, and editing.
Assessment and permitted materials
Submission of a topic selection/bibliography/reflection of a scientific paper (HÜ1, end of October), an exposé and table of contents (HÜ2, end of November) on a topic of your choice; it is recommended to use an assignment from a parallel proseminar (however, a selection of topics will also be provided). Transcription, content research, and editing of a letter from the 19th century (HÜ3, end of December); participation in three workshops on HÜ3 in December; group presentation on HÜ2 in January; 1 library visit.
Minimum requirements and assessment criteria
HÜ1 - Submission of topic selection and bibliography, 1 page, reflection on a scientific paper, 1 page, 25 points.
HÜ2 - Submission of exposé/table of contents, 2 pages, 25 points.
HÜ4 - Submission of letter edition, 2-4 pages, 25 points.
Group presentation on HÜ2: 10 points.
Active Participation & library visit: 15 points in total.Required criteria for a positive grade:
Timely submission of all HÜs with at least 51% of total points possible
Attendance 85% (9 attendance units, 3 workshops, 12 “units” in total) = You may miss 2 units.You will receive written feedback on HÜ1, after which you will have the opportunity to resubmit this HÜ with improvements. For assignment 2, you have the option of obtaining verbal feedback. Participation in a feedback discussion entitles you to resubmit an improved assignment 2.Grading scale: Pass 51-63, Satisfactory 64-76, Good 77-89, Very Good 90-100

Examination topics
The skills taught in research design, academic writing, bio-bibliographic research, bibliology, library studies, archival work, transcription, and editing are assessed through regular participation in discussions, the submission of three assignments (bibliography & paper, reflection, exposé/IV, letter editing), a group presentation on HÜ2, and a library visit.
