Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

The main aim of the course is to provide an overview on the topic of "development" aid through several major themes such as the development aid actors, aid effectiveness, accountability, ownership, sustainability and links with humanitarian aid.

The students will learn to critically appraise major international and global strategies and policies such as the Millennium Development Goal, the Sustainable Development Goal and the Paris Agenda through a combination of lecturing, group presentation and written assignments.

Assessment and permitted materials

Regular attendance, written assignments, group work and presentations.

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

The aim of the course is to provide an introduction into development policy and practice. Strengthened knowledge about development strategies, actors and relevant paradigm as well as ability to critically read and discuss major 'development' issues and development policies will be the expected outcome of the course.

Examination topics

Active participation, written exercises and group work.
