Aims, contents and method of the course
This course will familiarize students with main issues of Korean art by surveying key episodes in the development of material and visual culture on the Korean Peninsula through a selection of topics ranging from the Three Kingdoms period to the first half of the twentieth century. Following the time periods from the Three Kingdoms to Joseon we focus on the Art in the Tombs (especially in the Three Kingdoms Era), Art in the Temple (Silla and Goryeo periods, but also in Joseon) and the Arts in the Royal Court (Joseon era).
Assessment and permitted materials
Written exam.
Minimum requirements and assessment criteria
Student should have a good knowledge of English and can read basic Korean.
Examination topics
Examination topics are based on the covered materials and the content of the lecture.
