Aims, contents and method of the course
Unterrichtsziele sind vor allem die Verbesserung der Hörkompetenz und der mündlichen Sprachkompetenz. Grundlegende Argumentationsfähigkeit und Kenntnisse im Bereich der interkulturellen Kommunikation sind erwünscht. In der Lehrveranstaltung wird mit Sprichwörtern und aktuellen Nachrichtenthemen gearbeitet. Außerdem werden Themen der modernen chinesischen Welt aus den Bereichen Kultur, Geschichte, Politik, Wirtschaft, Philosophie etc. diskutiert, vor allem mit Bezug auf China und Taiwan.
Assessment and permitted materials
Die Leistungsbeurteilung setzt sich wie folgt zusammen: Mitarbeitsnote (Hausübungen, Verhalten im Unterricht, Anwesenheit): 30 %, Referaten und Diskussionen 40%, Abschlussperformance 30%. Bei einer Endpunktezahl unter 60 % der Maximalpunktezahl ist die Endnote negativ. Bei Abwesenheit in der ersten Einheit ohne vorherige Mitteilung per E-Mail werden Sie vom Kurs abgemeldet. Bei mehr als dreimaligem unentschuldigten Fernbleiben vom Unterricht erfolgt eine negative Beurteilung (5).

Die aktive Teilnahme am Unterricht sowie Pünktlichkeit werden in jeder Einheit vorausgesetzt.

Aims, contents and method of the course
1. Students will discuss the issues of the Chinese Mandarin spoken regions by integrating four topics, such as history, literature, environmental protection and contemporary society in the context of globalisation
2. Students can improve their listening and speaking skills to achieve the level to make basic debating.
3. Through the discussion between lecturer and students in the classroom, students are expected to develop intercultural awareness and intercultural communicative competence.

The evaluation includes regular and active participation, contribution in discussions and assessments.

Rubrics : 100- 90% : Very Good/1; 89 - 80% :Good/2 ; 79-70% : Fair/3 ; 69 - 60%: Enough/4 ; under 60% :Failed/5.Active participation in lessons and punctuality are required in each unit. If there are more than three unexcused absence from class, the result is negative (5).Due to the fact, the course is an oral practice course, in the case of absence one should provide an official absence proof, such as doctor sick leave sheet, a memo from another professor etc. Without official proof, the score of 'excercise in class' and 'cooperation' will be negatively influenced.
