Information
Aims, contents and method of the course
Die späte Qing-Zeit (19. und frühes 20. Jh.) wird in der Regel als Periode des Niedergangs beschrieben. In der Lehrveranstaltung wird zunächst die innere Entwicklung Chinas im Wechselspiel mit den dramatischen Veränderungen der internationalen Beziehungen betrachtet. Darauf aufbauend werden Elemente untersucht, die zur Einschätzung "Periode des Niedergangs" geführt haben und unterschiedliche historiographische Traditionen diskutiert.
Assessment and permitted materials
Aktive Mitarbeit (mehrere kleinere Übungen), eventuell Zwischentest zur Leistungskontrolle, Kurzreferat (mit Thesenpapier), schriftliche Abschlussprüfung oder schriftliche Arbeit.
Minimum requirements and assessment criteria
Überblick über die Geschichte Chinas in der späten Qing-Zeit, Vorstellung und Vertiefung von Methoden zur Arbeit mit unterschiedlichen Quellen
Examination topics
Impulsvorträge zu Quellen und Arbeitstechniken, Guided Reading, Diskussion
Reading list
Leseprogramm (rund 300 Seiten, überwiegend in englischer Sprache) wird in der ersten Unterrichtseinheit vorgestellt
