Information
Aims, contents and method of the course
Lange Zeit fand sich die Ethnomusikologie damit ab, derjenige Teilbereich innerhalb des musikwissenschaftlichen Diskurses zu sein, der für außereuropäische Musik zuständig ist. Jedoch stellten in der zweiten Hälfte des 20. Jahrhunderts zahlreiche EthnomusikologInnen, die aus der amerikanischen Cultural Anthropology kamen, die Bestimmung des Faches als die Untersuchung nicht-westlicher Musik in Frage und versuchten, seinen Gegenstand theoretisch bzw. methodisch und nicht mehr geographisch zu bestimmen. In der Vorlesung sollen unterschiedliche Entwürfe zur Ethnomusikologie im 20. Jahrhundert vorgestellt und diskutiert werden. Anhand einer kritischen Betrachtung sollen die epistemologischen Fundierungen divergierender Schulen oder Richtungen der Musikethnologie —die Vergleichenden Musikwissenschaft (Wiener und Berliner Schulen), die Anthropologie der Musik (Merriam 1964), die musikalische Anthropologie (Seeger 1984), die Musikethnographie der Erfahrung (Rice 1987), die Ethnographie der Performance u.a. — sowie eine posmoderne Ethnomusikologie reflektiert werden.
