Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

This course introduces and practically tests established standards for encoding scholarly text and music (TEI and MEI). It focuses on the facets of modern digital music editing in the context of current developments in Digital Humanities within musicology. Notation from all historical eras serves as exercise material. The practical module aims to provide participants with no prior knowledge a foundation for digital work with musical scores and to lower initial barriers to entry. Task difficulty is adapted to individual ability, ensuring interested individuals are welcome regardless of their level of preparation. Practical exercises are conducted using freely available programs and datasets.
