Aims, contents and method of the course
Information structure is fundamental to every language. Its expression differs cross-linguisticsally, spanning syntax, morphology, prosody, semantics and pragmatics. Consequently, it has been subject to theoretical and experimental linguistic explorations for decades. In this class, we will read, discuss and critically evaluate some of the more important contributions to this field.
