Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

Linguistic and cultural aspects of Middle Breton and Middle Cornish drama. Position within a wider European context. Details of prosody. Middle Cornish mystery plays as primary sources in language reconstruction.

Assessment and permitted materials

Written exam.

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

Students will receive a basic overview of the dramatic traditions of medieval Cornwall and Britanny. Both linguistic and cultural aspects will be covered, with a specific focus on how the extant corpus of texts can serve as primary sources in phonological analysis.
