Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

In the Lacanian rereading of Freud's psychoanalysis three areas can be found containing concepts of the father as the dead father: the killed father in phantasies of oedipal rivalry, the dead father of the primal horde und the - since Nietzsche - dead god who since the early sixties led Lacan to deny the existence of the big Other. The course will follow these three lines in Lacan's texts to unroll the different meanings of the dead father thereby testing the plausibility of a Lacanian proposition: the breakdown of the function of the father with consequences for individuals and groups.
