Theorie und Praxis der Vermittlung psychologischer Inhalte in der Schule

Continuous assessment of course work

Contents: After a theoretical introduction to the possibilities and limits of the lesson observation the students should independently work out the criteria for teaching analysis. The students must find different methods of teaching possibilities .

Assessment:1. The presence in the seminar, the design and the presentation of the lesson with all the documentation covers about 25 percent of assessment.

2. The designed lesson and the analysis of the unit held a further result about 25 percent of assessment.

3. The seminar thesis of minimum 15 pages should consist of the entire records of the lesson. Add the results of the classroom observation and the reflection of the seminar give 50 percent of the assessment.

Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

The course will provide theoretical insight into the teaching methodology of the subject as well as practical experience at a specific school. Based on the curriculum we will work out and reflect on aims and content of psychology lessons, discuss the criteria of good lessons and analyse different teaching methods and exam strategies. Creating a schedule for the whole school year and for individual lessons as well as getting to know and analysing different school books is supposed to prepare the participants for their professional practice.
The participants are expected to plan and give lessons - either in the seminar or at school - and to reflect on them critically. Sitting in on regular classes will offer the opportunity to observe, analyse and evaluate the teaching reality. Dealing with the rules and regulations of the new competence oriented school leaving exam will make the participants aware of the necessary adjustments concerning the psychology lessons.
Methods: Participants are expected to critically deal with expert literature, to plan lessons individually and to give lessons in front of the course group or at school. The individual teaching skills will improve on the basis of information relevant for the professional practice, reflection and constructive feedback.

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

Attendance, reading expert literature, accomplishing assignments, participation (discussions, feedback), planning and giving lessons, final paper (lesson plan with lesson material, description and analysis of the lesson, reflexion of one's own and the observed lessons based on expert literature).
