Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

The course is split into two parts.
Part A covers an introduction and theoretical discussion on topics including literature research, scientific writing and reading and methods.
In part B, results of scientific papers will be presented and discussed by the students in short talks.

Assessment and permitted materials

Active participation, quality of the short talks and a short exam.

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

Providing an insight in scientific working, learning skills like correct citing and experimental basics. The theoretically discussed content (part A) should be embraced and implemented in the short talks in part B. Further, the students will be supported to subsume the relevant content of scientific papers, to present the content adequately and to critically discuss the findings.

- Theoretical Introductions by the lecturing tutor (Part A)
- Collective reading and discussing a scientific paper as support for the short talks in Part B
- Short talks (Part B)
- Discussions
- Participation in current experiments
