Aims, contents and method of the course
Behavioral Public Policy is an interdisciplinary approach to policy design that draws on insights from behavioral economics, psychology, and other social sciences to develop effective, human-centered policy measures. In this seminar, we introduce and critically discuss different ways of influencing behavior in response to societal challenges. We examine both the potential and the limits of individual-level interventions (e.g., nudges and boosts) and system-level policies (e.g., incentives and regulations).Students are expected to read and discuss scientific articles throughout the course. Each student will prepare and deliver an executive-summary presentation of one assigned article. Seminar sessions focus on evaluating the strengths and weaknesses of the research and exploring its policy implications.
Assessment and permitted materials
Executive-summary presentation and moderation of the discussion (50%) + written assignment (50%)
Minimum requirements and assessment criteria
Physical participation in at least 10 seminar sessions, positive evaluation of both the executive-summary presentation and the written assignment.
