Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

Subjective age, i.e. how old a person feels, is an important indicator of his or her health, well-being and even life expectancy. Therefore, research is striving to identify factors that influence subjective age. In this course, we will take a closer look at the role of nature in subjective age. To do this, you will ask people of different ages in different places in Vienna how old they feel right now, and relate their answers to the degree of greening of the place. You will learn how to form hypotheses, develop a suitable study design, consider possible confounding factors, plan and conduct the study, and finally how to test the hypotheses statistically, present them and summarize them in writing. You will work in small groups and in plenary as well as in individual study. The seminar is interactive and depends significantly on the active participation of the students.
