Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

Prepares and accompanies elder students to be mentors for first term student during the STEOP phase. Most parts of the program are in German, but you can work with multiple languages in the mentoring-teams and during mentoring sessions.

Assessment and permitted materials

-presence during all appointments (1x absence is tolerated)
-meetings with mentees once every second week
-memos after every meeting, where you reflect on what happened
-final reflection paper at the end of the term
-collection of inscription numbers of all mentees
-participation in introduction of the program and invitation of mentees during group meetings during the introductory phase
- you will additionally get a soft skill certificate from the CTL
(Center for Teaching and Learning)
All partial contributions must have been provided on time and assessed positively in order to be able to complete the course.

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

Peer Mentoring is a program addressing students in their first term at Vienna University/department of political science. Its aim is to facilitate the STEOP phase and helps to accommodate students in their new context. Your tasks are:
-full attendance of the preparation seminars (40%)
-team work (40%)
-delivering of memos and final protocol (20%)
It is tolerated, if you miss one session.

Examination topics

There is no exam in the classical sense, but you will develop the following competencies:
knowledge about mentoring concepts
team building knowledge and leadership skills in groups
reflection skills for group processes
process-oriented work in groups
transfer competence for study knowledge
