Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

The lecture offers a critical introduction to the fundamentals and problems of the methodology of the social sciences, and students are familiarized with central topics of the theory of science as far as they are relevant for the development of modern social sciences. Classical studies from different social science disciplines are used as examples to address the understanding of methods and different approaches to research, as well as related questions and problems.
Getting to know the most important theoretical and methodological foundations of modern empirical social sciences and their differentiation into different paradigms; sharpening the understanding of social science methods by dealing with classical studies from different disciplinary approaches.

Assessment and permitted materials

Multiple choice exam.

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

For a positive rating, 55% of the questions must be answered correctly.
