Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

This is the continuation of the lectures on algebra in the summer semester 2020 and gives an introduction to abstract algebra. We will cover groups, rings and fields and their properties. For further information (in German) go to https://www.mat.univie.ac.at/~baxa/ws2021alg.html

Assessment and permitted materials

As long as exams at the university are impossible they will take place as take home exams online. For these exams the use of literature is permitted.

In urgent cases it is possible to take an oral exam online. For these exams no aids are permitted.

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

The grade is determined by the number of points achieved at the exam. To pass the exam at least half the points have to be achieved.

Examination topics

At the exam students have to demonstrate their command of the definitions, lemmas, theorems, corollaries and proofs presented in the lectures and their ability to apply them.
