Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

The tutorial forms an inseparable unit with the corresponding lecture: the material covered is identical, only the two appropriate parts of the learning process take place in the lecture or in the exercises. An understanding of the relevant concepts can only arise on the basis of both courses.

The exercises serve to independently develop and deepen the material, which is done by means of practical tasks that the participants solve independently and present and discuss in the exercise.

This is done by means of cross lists (in Moodle) and calls for presentations on the blackboard.

Attendance is compulsory for the exercises. Justified, excused absences will be tolerated as an exception.

Please note: In addition to registering via U:SPACE, PERSONAL participation on the first date is required for participation in the exercises. Otherwise your place will be allocated to students on the waiting list, see https://ssc-mathematik.univie.ac.at/studium/anmeldesystem.

Assessment and permitted materials

The grading is based on the presentation performance, the number of tasks crossed and the active participation in the discussions, with the main emphasis on the presentation performance.

Accepted Tools: self-prepared notes, technology.

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

For a positive grade, students must have marked at least 2/3 of all tasks as solved over the entire semester, present a solution to a (partial) task at least twice and regularly participate in the discussions of the tasks in the exercise units.

The blackboard presentations mainly determine the assessment. If the result is not clear, participation in the discussions will be taken into account.
