Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

The course is situated at the intersection of classical geometry, differential geometry and Lie theory. The main topic is the study of invariant geometric structures on homogeneous spaces and the reduction of such questions to linear algebra or representation theory. Several examples will be discussed in detail. To develop the theory we will introduce a substantial part of the language of modern differential geometry, in particular the theory of bundles and connections.
