Aims, contents and method of the course

Assessment and permitted materials

Anwesenheit inkl. aktiver Mitarbeit
eigene Unterrichtsplanung inkl. aller notwendigen Materialien (Arbeitsblätter, Hausübungen, ...)
Durchführen und Videographieren der Umsetzung im Unterricht

Abschlussportfolio:

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

Aims, contents and method of the course

This course is a mandatory accompanying class to the subject-specific school praxis in mathematics (SoSe II). In this seminar, students on the one hand shall give a presentation about various practical topics with respect to teaching (e.g. "giving feedback", "assessment", "communicating with parents", "compiling written tests" etc.), and on the other hand report and reflect about their own teaching activities (that took place in the praxis phase) and teaching activities of their fellow students (that has been observed). The presentations are prepared by the students (based on materials provided by the lecturer) in individual work, and then presented during the course (20 minutes presentation, 10 minutes discussion). As a prepraration for the teaching reflection, students shall video-record one of their own teaching units (or, if this proves too difficult, another person shall attend the teaching unit and document it). From this unit, an interesting 5-minute-sequence (based on the students' own judgment) is to be chosen. In the reflextion during the course (30 minutes incl. discussion), the student shall briefly present the framework of the unit (topic, grade) and of the sequence (why was this sequence chosen, is there something that should be specifically observed), then present the video (or give a detailled explanation of the sequence). After this, the student shall reflect about the sequence (why have I acted in this specific way, what would I do differently next time etc.). This is followed by a feedback and discussion phase about the sequence and the reflection.

Assessment and permitted materials

The assessment is based on the presentation, the reflection, the teaching plan, a written report about an observation session, and the regular active participation in the course.

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

Minimum requirements for a positive assessment:
*) Giving a presentation (in individual work)
*) Preparing and actual teaching of a mathematics teaching unit, reflecting about this unit
*) Uploading a written teaching plan (incl. planning matrix and all used materials, e.g. handouts, tasks, applets etc.) on Moodle until 30.6.2026
*) Uploading a written (freely formulated) report about a teaching observation on Moodle: Until 30.06.2026
*) Uploading the completed Praktikumspass on Moodle: Until 30.06.2026
*) Regular active participation (mandatory attendence of all seminar classes), including participating in the feedback and discussions

Assessment criteria:
*) Presentation: 25 %
*) Reflexion: 25 %
*) Written teaching plan: 15 %
*) Written observation report: 10 %
*) Regular participation in feedback and discussions: 25 %

Examination topics

Preparing and giving a short presentation, based on materials provided by the lecturer; preparing, executing, documenting, and reflecting about a teaching unit in mathematics; observing and reporting about a teaching unit of a fellow student or a mentor; discussion and feedback about other students' presentations and reflections
