Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

The main purpose of this seminar is to provide a comprehensive understanding on the current research carried out in the (experimental) materials physics research groups at the faculty, including the used instrumentation.

The students will be brought into direct contact with researchers from each group through meetings and laboratory tours, which serve as the basis for seminar presentations. This offers also a great opportunity for finding internships, research projects, and topics for master's theses.

Assessment and permitted materials

Participation in the seminars and seminar preparation sessions, discussions after presentations, and delivery of their own presentations.

If possible (depending on the number of participants), the students will work in pairs or in small groups for preparing seminars about the research groups.

Each student will also independently present in a seminar one study from one of the research groups. If time allows, also poster presentations on the same study will be prepared.

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

Examination topics

The presentations should explain the scientific motivation of the research and give an insight to the basic physical principles behind the respective methods and to the materials properties that were studied.

Reading list

Literature will be provided during the course.
