Aims, contents and method of the course

The aim of this lecture is to learn about the development of important ideas and concepts in the history of physics from antiquity to the beginning of the 20th century, taking into account the contribution of women and with a special focus on physics at the University of Vienna.
The course draws on the extensive material of Franz Sachslehner, the long-time director of the historical collection of the Faculty of Physics and this lecture.

Assessment and permitted materials

Oral examination, approx. 20 minutes.

The minimum requirement for a positive grade is basic knowledge/answers to questions relating to the content of the course.

The contents of the lecture are examined.
