Aims, contents and method of the course

During this lab course 3 detailed experiments in the field of Solid State Physics will be conducted using modern research equipment. These examples will cover selected solids with reduced dimensionality, such as graphen, nanotubes, and thin films. Characterization uses microscopic (scanning electron microscopy, lithography, transmission electron microscopy) and spectroscopic methods (Raman scattering, angle-resolved photoemission).
As part of this lab the basic knowledge for a bachelor thesis can be acquired and the themes issued. Candidates interested to perform a bachelor thesis are asked to provide a certificate for the needed 90 ECTS points. This certificate ("Sammelzeugnis") can be obtained in the study service center.
