Aims, contents and method of the course

Students work independently on problem solutions related to content of the corresponding lecture course (VO). Presentation and discussion of solutions by the students. The weekly problems will be posted at https://www.mat.univie.ac.at/~gue/material.html.

Assessment and permitted materials

Weekly checkmarks (in Moodle) for the problems solved and presentation of solutions by students during the UE sessions (upon request).

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

To pass the UE, students are required to have
(a) at least 2/3 of the problems checked (overall for the entire semester),
(b) at least three acceptable solution presentations.
In case you pass, the influence of (b) on the grade will be with weight 3/4.
In principle, students are required to attend every weekly session; in the exceptional case of unavoidable absence please notify your UE-lecturer (by e-mail) in advance.

Examination topics

The problems will be available online at https://www.mat.univie.ac.at/~gue/material.html in due time and are based on the content of the lecture course (VO).

Aims, contents and method of the course

Consolidation and practice of the contents of the parallel lecture through independent preparation of solutions to tasks. Presentation and discussion of the proposed solutions. The weekly tasks can be found on Moodle from the beginning of the semester.

Assessment and permitted materials

Tick the weekly solved tasks in Moodle and presentations of the solutions on call in the UE session.

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

- In the exercises you can achieve 100 points in total. You can achieve at most 50 points for "crossing" exercise problems you are able to present on the blackboard (50 points correspond to 100% of all problems), and 50 points for the quality of your presentation.

- In order to pass the exercises, you must have at least 25 points for "crossed" exercise problems (i.e. at least half of all problems must be "crossed"), and you must have at least 25 points for your presentations.

- Grading:
0 - 49 points = nicht genügend (5)
50 - 62 points = genügend (4)
63 - 75 points = befriedigend (3)
76 - 88 points = gut (2)
89 - 100 points = sehr gut (1)

- In case you are absent for some important reason (illness) and you have "crossed" exercise problems before, you can agree with your class leader on a short conversation about these problems. Depending on the outcome of this conversation these "crosses" may be accepted.

Examination topics

The tasks will be available on Moodle from the beginning of the semester and are based on the contents of the parallel VO.
