Aims, contents and method of the course
In this seminar, students will write a BS Thesis in English. In so doing, they will conduct a literature review to write a theoretical background, design a research project and accompanying materials, carry out the project, and write about the methodology and findings. A list of topics will be provided to students that will include possible projects like "design a computer simulation to model half-life of a radioactive substance using 1) coins and 2) dice. Then, try out your simulation with a Gymnasium class." Students are encouraged to also suggest additional topics for the list.
Assessment and permitted materials
Students will give a short presentation on their research project to simulate a talk at a conference. Classmates are expected to offer constructive criticism and suggestions, as would also be expected at a conference. Students will receive a grade also for completing certain milestones necessary for the completion of the thesis, such as writing the theoretical background section of the thesis.
Minimum requirements and assessment criteria
In addition to completing the necessary components of the thesis, the short presentation is required for passing the course. Grades will be determined as follows:
90-100% (1)
80-90% (2)

Examination topics
There will be no exams
Reading list
Some research articles will be provided to students. Others students will find on their own from the university's library service.
