In so doing, they will conduct a literature review to write a theoretical background, design a research project and accompanying materials, carry out the project, and write about the methodology and findings. A list of topics will be provided to students that will include possible projects like "design a computer simulation to model half-life of a radioactive substance using 1) coins and 2) dice. Then, try out your simulation with a Gymnasium class." Students are encouraged to also suggest additional topics for the list.

Assessment and permitted materials

Students will give a short presentation on their research project to simulate a talk at a conference. Classmates are expected to offer constructive criticism and suggestions, as would also be expected at a conference. Students will receive a grade also for completing certain milestones necessary for the completion of the thesis, such as writing the theoretical background section of the thesis.
