Aims, contents and method of the course

Computer assisted exercises dealing with simulation, analysis and
prediction of biomolecular structures. Emphasis is laid on a "hands
on" approach to problems ranging from elementary principles "behind"
molecular dynamic simulations to the prediction of the folding
dynamics of RNA molecules on secondary structure level.

1. Introduction to the software packages used to model secondary and
tertiary structures of biomolecules.

2. Programming examples concerning the basic principles of Molecular
dynamic simulations.

3. Examples concerning the prediction of RNA secondary structure and
folding dynamics.

Assessment and permitted materials

Mark will be based on the solved practical exercises. It is necessary to solve at least 50% of the practical exercises for a positive evaluation.

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

Aptitude in using computers for the solution of problems discussed in the lecture
