Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

Basics of aquatic ecotoxicology. Selected chapters on the properties of toxic substances in the environment and in biota. Joint and guided reading of scientific articles in the field of ecotoxicology. Weekly an article or chapter of a book is read by all participants and discussed in the group.

Assessment and permitted materials

For the evaluation the following criteria will be used:
Written test on the subject (25%)
presentation of the presented article (25%)
quality of the submitted abstract (25%)
taking part in the discussion (25%)

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

Acquirement of basic knowledge within the field and the comprehension of pathways in some aquatic food chains. Using recent literature all participants should acquire insights to the themes and concepts of ecotoxicological research. Furthermore the participants should learn to evaluate the read articles in terms of their methodical and theoretical premises.
