Information
Aims, contents and method of the course
The lecture units give an extensive overview of the various automation methods for the chemical laboratory. Among them are microtiter plates, micro fluidics, continuous flow chemistry, lab on a chip, automated organic synthesis, specialized reaction ware, robotics, as well as self-driving labs. The advantages and disadvantages of these techniques will be discussed.The accompanying practical unit in the chemistry lab will provide hands-on experience with flow chemistry, automated experiment design, and 3D printing technology. In addition, there will be homework assignments related to the theory lectures, in particular on optimization methods.If you have any questions please contact maximilian.xaver.tiefenbacher@univie.ac.at .
Assessment and permitted materials
The final grade is the sum of points from two multiple choice test and the lab protocol. Each test counts for 30% of the grade and the protocol for 40%.50.00 - 62.49% => 4
62.50 - 74.99% => 3
75.00 - 87.49% => 2
87.50 - 100.00% => 1
62.50 - 74.99% => 3
75.00 - 87.49% => 2
87.50 - 100.00% => 1
Minimum requirements and assessment criteria
At least 50% of the possible points must be obtained through multiple-choice tests. Additionally, a lab protocol must be submitted.
