Aims, contents and method of the course
The course is aimed at all students, doctoral candidates, and interested staff members. No special prerequisites or prior knowledge are required. The course provides practice-oriented instruction on microfossils and their applications in the geosciences. This includes the preparation, picking, and analysis of sediments, identification of taxa using identification literature, as well as the evaluation and presentation of data using various methods. Participants will be able to identify and classify microfossils in sediments and use them for the reconstruction of paleoecosystems. Assessment consists of a presentation by the participants in which the results of the practical exercise are presented.
