Introduction to radiation in the atmosphere; Role of radiation in the weather and climate system; Short-/Longwave radiation; Transmission and emission of the atmosphere; Absorption by gases; Energy equilibrium of the atmosphere; Radiation transfer equation; Optical phenomena in the atmosphere (e.g., rainbows, noctilucent clouds).
