Aims, contents and method of the course

Information about the functionality of a weather radar, the measurement parameters and interpretation of the measurements

Assessment and permitted materials

exercises and project work in small groups with presentation

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

Übungsblätter werden zu 60% und Projektarbeit wird zu 40% gewertet.
Übungsblätter: mindestens 6 von 7 Übungsblätter müssen mit je 50% der Gesamtpunktezahl für eine positive Beurteilung erreicht werden.
Projektarbeit: Teilnahme an Projektarbeit mit Vortrag. Bewertung des Vortrags nach Inhalt, Befolgung der Aufgabenstellung, Beantwortung der Fragen.
Notenschlüssel: NGD5 < 50% <= GEN4 < 64% <= BEF3 < 76% <= GUT2 < 88% <= SGT1

electromagnetic waves, technique, basics of scattering and propagation, radar equation, estimation of precipitation, Doppler radar and estimation of wind field, polarimetric radar, quantitiative estimation of precipitation and classification of hydrometeors
