290012 VU Special Topics of Economics (2007W)

After presenting central instruments of economic analysis, such as demand, supply, equilibrium, elasticities, fundamental problems of economic policy will be discussed. The first part looks at the analysis of taxes, of external effects and other cases of market failures, and of elements of the theory of uncertainty. Then I will provide an introduction to divers fields of economics, such as labour markets, competition, foreign trade, social policy, income distribution, financial intermediation and environment
The lecture should enable students to get an understanding of scopes and methods of economics and to make them literate for not to technical studies.
