Seminar on Economics: Privatization

"More market - less state" was the Credo of the current Austrian prime minister already more than 20 years ago. He put himself in a historical tradition of Margret Thatcher and other neoliberal politicians and thinkers. The retreat of the state from many if not most social and economic spheres was and still is the philosophy of those who believe in the superiority of the market as the guidung principle of our society.
The seminar deals with all the basic questions in the transition from public to private responsibilities for providing important goods and services. Furthermore, case studies (in particular from the sectors transport, education, energy production, old-age care) are used to illustrate the relevant problems and to deepen the understanding of the different topics.
