This introductory seminar aims at getting to know the procedures involved in ecosystem analysis and evaluation as well as practicing steps of ecosystem analysis and evaluation in landscape ecology. The seminar begins with assessing the significance of large scale topographical and thematic maps for analysis and evaluation in landscape ecology, the presentation of methods for the analysis of ecosystem compartments and the coupling of the compartmental analyses. Analogous to this procedure, evaluation techniques will be presented and discussed for individual ecosystem compartments and landscapes. The contents will be taught predominantly like a seminar; so student presentations are followed by discussions. The lecture is aimed at Geography students in the second part of course of study.
