Information
Aims, contents and method of the course
The aim of this field trip is to provide an introduction to the identification, calculation, and mitigation of flooding hazard and risk. A one-day bicycle field trip at the Donauinsel will be used as the backdrop for discussion on flooding hazard and risk. Students are required to bring their own bicycle, lunch and snacks.
Assessment and permitted materials
The students will submit a summary report after the field trip, which will account as the main evaluation for the grade.
The summary report consists of a final written group project (2–3 people). Students should write down their observations collected during the excursion and their analysis of the group discussions. For this reason, the students have to take care of their own annotations and pictures.
The report will be graded according to the following criteria (expressed in percentage):
- Overall impression: 30
- Format: 10
- References: 10
- Content and discussion (quality of the analysis of the excursion content): 50
