Information
Aims, contents and method of the course
The methods presented in part 1 of the course will be extended and refined, in particular regarding multi-state models/-processes. In detail, we will discuss multiple decrement and increment-decrement processes as well as multi-state population projections and their applications, e.g., formation and dissolution of marriage and population projections by education, respectively. Furthermore, basic concepts of event history analysis and their applications in demography will be presented. Finally, tempo effects as well as the impact of heterogeneity and selection will be discussed.
Assessment and permitted materials
Continuous assessment via submissions of take home exercises and voluntary presentations of the homework plus written exam at the end of the term.
Minimum requirements and assessment criteria
Students are able to apply the methods to data and interpret and discuss results based on the methods and models presented in the course.
