290154 VO+UE Material and energy balances (2007W)

It is the aim of this advanced level lecture to get to know the most important matter transformations at the Earth surface and in particular in soils, to quantify, and to locate them. In a first step, the matter transformations are put into the perspective of earth's history and presented in their particular geospheric specificity. Particular emphasis is put on the terrestrial biosphere. Then, global cycles of important elements are shown and discussed.
This lecture is appropriate for students with knowledge and interest in natural sciences.
