Aims, contents and method of the course

The main targets of the course are the introduction of spatial analysis of population through theory and pratical exercises.
The course use real and artificial data to apply spatial analysis theory.
The analyses will be carried out with the Excel program.

Assessment and permitted materials

Continuous assessment during the seminar via submissions of take home exercises and voluntary presentations of the homework plus final short exam at the end of the seminar.

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

Along the semester, the following is obligatory for graduation:
(i) Regular attendance and session preparation (homework) (40%)
(ii) Positive assessment of the final practical test (60%) (population data assessment with interpretation of the analysis outputs carried out with datasets similar to those used during the exercises)

Examination topics

The students have to solve exercises using Excel at home or write about the theoretical aspects (short essay) of the methods studied during the class, and present it orally in the course.
