Aims, contents and method of the course

This lecture introduces key perspectives on Global Change and Sustainability Transformations drawn from the fields of Spatial Planning and Spatial Research as well as Urban Studies. It aims to deepen students‘ understanding of core theories and concepts by engaging with contemporary major debates and recent advancements in both fields.

The objective of the lecture is twofold: first, to enhance students' understanding of how spatial planning and urban studies perspectives contribute to the analysis of the impacts of global change on regional and urban levels; and second, to critically analyze the challenges to move towards sustainability transformations.

Assessment and permitted materials

The exam will contain multiple-choice and open questions.

Besides the respective slides of each lecture, additional thematic material will be provided on Moodle.

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

The individual point and evaluation key will be provided before the exam.

Examination topics

The exams are based on the slides provided on Moodle. If specific literature is to be examined, this will be clearly communicated.
