Aims, contents and method of the course

Students will get an overview over the following topics: Genetically modified organisms (GMO); Animal ethics - Animal Protection Law, Animal keeping guidelines; Experiments in animals - Austrian law, Journal guidelines, Alternatives to animal experiments; Eco-ethics - Species extinction, Ecological footprint, Climate change; Use of humans in biomedical experimentation; Reproductive medicine - In-vitro-fertilisation (IVF), Law in Reproductive Medicine, Pre-implantation genetic diagnosis (PGD), Stem cells research; Passive and active Euthanasia; Scientific integrity, Mentoring, Scientific misconduct, Plagiarism.

Beschränkte TeilnehmerInnenzahl pro Termin.

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

Die StudentInnen bekommen einen Überblick über wichtige Fragestellungen in den Bereichen Gentechnik, Tierethik, Ökoethik, Human- und Medizinethik, Forschungsethik.
