The Krakatau Islands (Indonesia) will be used to demonstrate effects of island isolation and area on species richness, species composition and colonization dynamics. Model organisms will be birds, butterflies and ants. The field course will be conducted together with Indonesian students of the Agricultural University Bogor (Westjava). The participation in the seminar Basic Principles of Island Biogeography is obligatory.
