Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

Students of the Joint Master Evolutionary Systems Biology have to choose two lab rotation courses (lab rotation I and lab rotation II) covering two of the three major topics of the Master programme: (1) Molecular Evolution and EvoDevo (U. Technau, O. Simakov), (2) Populations Genetics (C. Schlötterer, J. Hermisson), (3) Quantitative Biology and Systems Biology (P. Mitteröcker, W. Weckwerth, T. Rattei). Students, who want to do the lab rotation in Population Genetics at the VetMed (C. Schlötterer group) have to register in addition at the VetMed.
The student is given a research project for 5-6 weeks (fulltime), where he/she will learn and apply key methods of the discipline.

Assessment and permitted materials

The student writes a report on the research project in the format of the paper (20-40 pages), which is graded by the supervisor.

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

The performance during the lab rotation (50%) and the report (50%) are graded by the supervisor.
