Aims, contents and method of the course

Aims: Students acquire knowledge on scientific work in the natural sciences, on how to search for and further process scientific literature, conduct and write up a scientific paper as well as present it. This should enable the prospect teachers keeping up with up to date scientific literature, and supervising and grading pre-scientific papers (Vorwissenschaftliche Arbeiten).

Contents: The seminar intends to convey strategies and a tool-kit for a literature search and a comprehensive literature review on a specific topic. Topics include technical didactics in biology, general zoological and anthropological topics that are also reflected in the school curriculum. The acquired expertise shall be summarized in an integrative way, i.e. not just summarizing the literature, but discussing it critically.

Each students chooses a one of the listed foci for their work. Individual topics will be outlined in the preparatory meeting. Students will be distributed equally among the foci.
