Aims, contents and method of the course

The seminar is a brief introduction into mass-spectrometry based proteomics and respective computational concepts, algorithms, and software.

Topics:
- Protein, proteome, and proteomics
- Protein digestion
- Peptide separation
- Mass spectrometry basics
- Mass spectral interpretation
- Protein identification
- Quantitative proteomics
- Protein inference
- Statistical validation

The course will consist of two parts, first a presentation introducing the topic and second a discussion to critically assess the concepts.

Assessment and permitted materials

Oral exam at the end of semester.
