Information
Aims, contents and method of the course
Aim of this course is to get familiar with food types, diets, and nutritional interactions in the sea. Hypotheses, questions, and experiments on selected organisms will be developed by the students. Appropriate methods will be selected and students get familiar with them. Data will be analyzed and interpreted. The students learn to prepare a presentation with provided literature and to search for literature. The students will get familiar with some selected methods in marine biology, biological oceanography, and symbiosis research. The students get familiar in design, carrying out sampling and experimental work, and interpretation of data carried out at a marine biological station. The students learn to write a scientific report. Work will be carried on in groups aimed at increasing knowledge on self management and team work. The hands-on part of the course will be held at the marine biological station in Piran (Slovenia) from 15.-25.07.2022.
Assessment and permitted materials
Presentations, performance of practical work at the marine biological station, contributions to discussions and interpretation of data in groups and writing of a scientific report will be evaluated.
Minimum requirements and assessment criteria
