The lectures are part of a series (Molekularbiologie der Pflanzen 1 - 3). The whole series intends to provide a broad basal education in molecular plant sciences. The first part deals with plant genetics and cell organisation. Basis for the whole series is the textbook "Biochemistry and Molecular Biology of Plants" by Buchanan, Gruissem and Jones. Aims, contents and method of the course

The lectures encompass classical mendelian genetics, genome organisation, the biology of reproduction, coordination of chloroplasts and mitochondria with nuclear signals and other aspects of cell organisation. The lecture is also intended for classical and organismal biologists / botanists.
