Aims, contents and method of the course
Molecular biological and microbiological techniques from the research fields of environmental microbiology, environmental cell biology will be covered in practical and theoretical form. Chosen experimental systems are archaeal model organisms, bacterial symbionts and complex microbial communities.

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria
Since the number of participants is restricted to 12, admission to the course might depend on the qualifications of the students (in particular attendance of lectures and seminars in microbiology and genetics or related fields).
