The preliminary meeting will take place on 05 March 2026 from 14:30 to 15:30 at the Natural History Museum Vienna, side entrance, Burgring 7, course room (Kurssaal). Participation in the preliminary meeting is mandatory. The course will run from March to June 2026 on the following dates:

Information
Aims, contents and method of the course
The seminar provides insights into methods of systematic / phylogenetic and evolutionary studies based on molecular genetic data. Various examples from current literature will be used to discuss questions and methods ranging from population genetics and phylogenetics to related disciplines. The seminar is supposed to enhance the students´ ability to critically evaluate scientific publications in molecular evolutionary biology.
Assessment and permitted materials
Seminar with continuous assessment; Seminar lectures by students: Presentation of relevant topics using scientific publications (70%, maximum number of points 14); Active participation in the discussions (30%, maximum score 6)
